Classmates, we've certainly lost some good ones in recent years and this hurts as much as any. When we were in high school news like this was something that seemed unfathomable. This is the kind of news that should serve to remind us that our days are numbered and we need to make them count. I loved Koz as a brother and like Burcham I could write a novel on our relationship and escapades but I'll just share two quintessential Gary stories. The first is from high school. I was over at Gary's and we were hanging out and he pulled out one of his shotguns and was showing it to me. He loaded up a shell that he had taken the shot out of (unbeknownst to me). He then proceeded to point it at me. I ran downstairs as he chased me. I ran back upstairs and locked myself in the bathroom. Gary said come on out; there's no shot in it. I refused. Gary said come out, it's not a real shell. I'm going to shoot the door to show you. He then pulled the trigger and blew a whole through the door that about 10-12 inches in diameter. We both about had heart attacks on the spot. Mrs Koz arrived shortly after this event and needless to say was not real pleased. This was a good opportunity for Gary to use some of his construction and craftsman skills. The other story is from when we lived I Dallas. Gary is probably the most naturally strong guy I ever knew. I had been living with Kyle Hooper and was moving to my own apartment. My apartment was on the third floor. I had a washer and dryer and when it was time to take the dryer I asked Koz to get one side and I'd get the other. In Gary fashion, he said stand back. He proceeded to carry the dryer up three flights of stairs by himself, never stopping to set it down or rest. He was not only physically strong but he was also a sweetheart. If I ever needed help with anything he could always be counted on. He was charming, hilarious, loyal and kind. I love you Koz. Hank and I will have a toast today for you and "the dudes who aren't here".
