Curt Herzfeld

Curt Herzfeld

Through his niece Charity Thompson on FB, Curt was found unresponsive in his home 10/18/23.

Curtis Gene Herzfeld, age 62, entered heaven and was welcomed by the Heavenly Father October 18th, 2023. Curt was born November 19th, 1960, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Virgil Gene Herzfeld and Jerry Ann (Wallace) Herzfeld. Curt was the oldest son and third child born to Gene and Jerry. He was an adorable little boy with a mischievous smile complimented by his mother and father’s good looks. He and his family canine, Troubles, won a national contest with a professional photo taken by a prominent Tulsa photography studio when Curt was about four years old. Both Curt and Troubles sported their award-winning expressions to capture the judge’s eye! Curt was smart, funny, and well-liked by everyone. If you knew Curt, you were no stranger.

Curt attended school in Tulsa graduating from Memorial High School in 1979 and then attended OSU in Stillwater for construction management. Curt was a hardworking man with a detailed skillset. In his lifetime, he owned his own successful lawn service in both Tulsa and Florida, was Ferguson Pontiac’s top salesman for years, and worked as a salesman for his father’s beauty and barber supply in his youth. Curt was not afraid of hard work and evidence of this was shown in his weathered hands. Whatever he committed to doing, he did well!

Curt became a proud father to his only child, Colton Gene Herzfeld, in 1991. The little ‘towhead’ bundle had his dad’s heart from the first minute Curt laid eyes on him. Curt would tell you Colton was his greatest accomplishment in life. He loved and adored his child and had many great stories to share of their times together as Colton was growing up.

Curt and Colton also shared a love of their ‘canine’ family with Curt’s favorite being his dog Bubba and Colton’s favorite being Nina. The love Curt and Colton shared for their animal family was always evident. Curt and Bubba were inseparable these last years together.

Curt loved the Lord and would often talk of his walk with Him. Curt had his ups and downs as many people do but would always bounce back and give praise to God. Just recently Curt had met with several young people from a local church and recommitted himself to do God’s work.

Curt was a devoted person. He would tell family about people in general, “If you like them…I like them, if you don’t like them, I don’t like them!”. He was unwavering in his love for family and friends. Curt was the type of person to go to bat for the most vulnerable of people and was never afraid to stand up for what was right.

Curt loved his parents. His father’s passing earlier in 2023 showcased Curt’s strength and compassion during his father’s illness and subsequent death. Likewise, he loved his mother and would call and text multiple times each week to ensure she was comfortable and doing well. His endeavors as their son were not lost on those that knew Curt.

Surviving family members include his precious mother, Jerry Ann, brother Scott, and sisters Linda and Marsha. Curt is preceded in death by his son Colton and his father Gene. What a glorious reunion that must have been!
