Hans, woo hoo another one joins the message board party! Wonder how we can get some more? Hmmm, lip stick on a goat. Wish we'd thought of that before we put two pygmy goats in Geoff's tent over Memorial Day weekend. That would of made a good picture.

Gary - Man, what didn't your X take? At first I thought the 1973 superior was just an old RV out on some land of yours, now I'm starting to think its where you have to live :-)

Grisson, Thoreau and Memorial. Mr. Ahrens left education, and now owns the successful Mother Natures Pest Controll. Does anybody else find any irony in the transition from education to pest controll? Who besides me enjoyed Mrs. Brady, one of the most awesome individuals who ever instucted? Hardly anything has ever been written nicer about me than her letter of recondmendation for Eagle Scout. How about Cheryl Bennsinger? How about Mrs. Cunningham and reading "Where The Read Fern Grows"? Not a dry eye in the room for the last chapter, even from the boy reading! (I want to know who he was? Does any-one remember?) Who besides me remembers Mr. Wilcox's P.E. class at Grissom. He returned our fourth grade year after missing months of school. Do you remember how red his face would would get when once again he would get angry. He was battling testiclular cancer. IT won. Our dads were friends. Who remembers Ms. Drake and Mr. Bedwell? How about Mr. Gerald Nelson? A.K.A Wild Child, his C.B. handle while driving for M.K.&O. His math class' were great! He made it big in the Atlanta housing boom of the 1980's. How about Coach Bud Baker and his romance with the school nurse whom he married? How many others of you out there had to sing "Little Brown Jug", because of an infraction in P.E.? And in front of the entire P.E. class? Who remembers Ms. Grimm? How about Mr. Turner? During the eight years that I was an I.C.U. tech at Hillcrest, both the dad and father-in-law of Mr Christman died. Good to be there where I could give some comfort to some-one who gave me so much direction while I was at Thoreau. And of course Mr Bernard. I ran into him several times at St. Francis as he and his wife were having another child. And who went to Coach West's farm for his parties? And how about Mr. Bill Gibons who took care of his invalid mother. Unfortunately what occupied him so much while he was at school was also his demise. And who else but me enjoyed playing Risk in Coach Chapman's Contemporary Affairs class? My daughter Ren usually beats me. And when we had to bring in speakers for Coach Chapman's class, I sure did enjoy walking arround in the auditorium while the Tulsa Zoo's reptile division was there. I was holding a rather large Boa. A certain teacher who shall remain un-mentioned told me that if I moved any closer to Him that I would fail my senior year...Needless to say snakey and I moved away. And Dr. Darlin. According to the Tulsa World, he died after a long bout with cancer. My most vivid memory of his many morning messages was when he told us that he knew about our senior skip day. "I understand that some of you will be drinking a six-pack too many". I did not miss a single day of our senior year and my dear old strict ridgid mom called in for me that day. And she wrote a note for me. And bless her little self, I got to help with house-hold chores that day and have some time to myself. Heavens, so much time has past. There is so much time left, and yet so very little!
What shall we do next?
"LeChaim", "To Life"!

one day a person was walking along the beach
suddenly as one next wave washes in front
appears but the side of a pollished diagonal
bottle that glitters....
amazed... the finder of course rubs the bottle
and of course DON WOODS appears...
he says that you can have three things
as long as your divorce attorney gets
twice as much
OKAY... I Want $10,000,000
Okay says "DON",
you have $10,000,000 and your divorce attorney gets
$20,000,000

I want a cruise arround the world...
Okay says "Don"
You get one arround the world cruise
and your divorce attorney gets two

as they walked along there loomed ahead a pile
of broken jagged and torn pieces of wood

the finder of the bottle stopped
"Don" "Yes" I want you to find the biggest branch
and beat me half to death.............

OR

IF AINT FIRST ONE THING IT IS ANOTHER

OR

YOU CAN NOT WIN IF YOU TRY

I remember lots of those teachers too, Hans, That was great to read. Mr. Wilcox used to let us girls come early before school started and do gymnastics stuff. I certainly remember his read face.

Mrs. Brady lived back behind me and I used to deliver her paper to her.

KOZ} It is not as though I kept notes on the events. It is just that I have a near picture perfect memory for most details. Which does not help much when one is married and THE DETAILS ARE SHARP ON ONES MINDS AND THE SPOUSE IS OH SO WRONG! Which is really a moment to sit back and SHUT UP! That still is a TOUGH lesson for me to learn sometimes. Oh well! Too much more important stuff to worry about like taking care of our aging parents and maturing children. But I myself remember too well sometimes. Rudyard Kipling said that a woman is a woman, but a cigar is a good smoke. And Frued upon being asked about the phallic nature of his cigars replied, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar". Groucho Marx said that "Given the choice between a cigar and a woman I will always choose the cigar". however Horace Greely said " A cigar has a fire at one end and a fool at the other". So KOZ please TRY AND REMEMBER as Abraham Lincoln said, " It has been my experiance that folks who have no vices, have very few vertues". so i hope that you enjoy your chill out, coz you gotta watch out for your blood pressure koz and to all the rest of you out there in TULSAMEMORIAL1979CYBERSPACE...WHATSUP?
peace out hans a pasco

Nothing like hanging out on a message board with a bunch of strangers whom you happened to spent a few hours in the same zip code with way back in the distant past :)

More people need to come out and play. Look at all these happy people from 1989.

When you are old
a poem by William Butler Yeats

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

HEY, EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED GRISSOM!!

We are still planning a get-together at Grissom on Saturday, 7/11 - let's meet at 10:30am on the steps. Looks like we will have at least 20 of us, and I'm working on getting a few teachers and maybe someone currently in the pest control business (who wielded a paddle on me in 3rd grade - yes, I was a pest).

Fine-tuned agenda:
10:30-10:45 Figure out who all those old people are
10:45-11 Take pictures before we hate each other
11-11:05 Play on the playground until we get tired, call 911 when someone gets an old person boo-boo
11:05-noon Terrorize the neighborhood, etc. - then go to the LaFortune Park picnic.

We have a group on Facebook - join us! http://www.facebook.com/bittman?ref=name#/group.php?gid=72950647912.

Tom

P.S. This message forum is really making me reconsider this whole reunion thing. I'll probably wear a mask or something to avoid the whole swine flu, mad cow, goat fever thing that you've got going on.

...Uh we could have ambulances standing by.

Do they even put up "monkey bars" on playgrounds anymore?

We had at least one mishap a year where someone did a "faceplant" or broke something falling off the bars...

Man did i love the "stilts" though...

(Sorry having a "Carnegie" flashback)

Kevin

Eddie Morris

Hey, look us over
Carnegie's here,
we'll be the best now
just you never fear.
We'll rise and shine
we'll always compete.
We're here to tell you
we're rough and tough
and mighty hard to beat.
Because we know how to work,
we know when to play,
we're just like beavers
never waste a day.
We are young Americans
growing up,
and one day we will be
moms and pops of Carnegie.
CARNEGIE!

Right on! (remember the tune, just not all the words).

Good to hear from you, Eddie....

See you at the reunion, I hope!
