Paul and I worked at Furrs Cafeteria together from 1977 to 1979. I remember Paul as a hard worker who the managers liked, but he also liked to have some fun. One winter night in early 1979 while at work, Paul and I kept going out to the back alley and making these really hard, wet snowballs and drilling the back window of a nearby house. On the the third trip out to the alley, the owner of the house popped out from behind his fence and caught us with snowballs in hand. We apologized but apparently not sincere enough so he went around front and told the manager. I remember the manager, Chuck Collison, going from worker to worker yelling at them and asking if they were throwing snowballs. Paul and I were the last two he asked and he saw the smiles on our face as he approached. Chuck just smiled, shook his head, and said please don't do that anymore.

Paul was the friendliest soul I can think of. I, too, worked with him at Furr's along with Bonnie Fullerton, Patti Rose and several others. He was always cooking chicken fried steak and did a wonderful job! I have several memories of him too. It must have been cold outside one day at lunch. The windows were fogged up and we pulled out from where ever we were, unable to see we got into a little accident. Poor Paul. Everyone bailed and got back to school. He was left with the screaming woman. That is what took his life I understand. A car accident in Indiana where he attended college.
